The Free Market, but…

Hello there again readers and welcome back to Coffee Break Liberty, a blog where we tackle books, news and many other things under the sun where liberty is a guiding principle. If this is your first time here we would like to extend a special warm welcome to you and hope you enjoy yourself while here.

We are gonna try and have a little fun with this post.

Extra Extra!! New from the heads of all economic thought! A new form of market has just been discovered. This new form is called “free market, but…” We have often heard this phrase used by people telling others how much they actually like the free market, but… Also in this press release we learn that people that use that turn of phrase don’t either know what the free market is or don’t really care for it like they say they do. We are also told that this new market is the same as a regulated market but sounds a little bit nicer and is a bit easier to digest.

OK back to reality now… Have you ever heard that phrase before? “I support the free market, but…” Then here is the thing, that person doesn’t support the free market. What that person actually supports is a regulated market. That government interference that person actually suggests is harming the free market. We have seen now for as long as history has been written that this never works. Time and time again the markets are disrupted and messed with by some government stooge that produces nothing. Being able to realize this is nothing short of fundamental for a libertarian. Having the ability to recognize these actions and failures by the government makes us all the better for it.

When the government interferes with the market they not only hamper it’s ability to perform at it’s best performance but the government is also violating the NAP, as we see it, to do so. When the government acts it commits violence against people. Heck even by existing governments must initiate violence against people. The entire idea is dangerous, men ruling over other men without consent.

Got a little off in the weeds there for sure but the point is, don’t be fooled by that fake line “I support the free market, but…” It’s a lie and you should know it by now and have the ability to call those out that push that false narrative. They don’t support the free market, it’s that simple.

Thank you for reading and please don’t forget to like and share!

Keep that coffee warm for us
