Round 3 CMRA MSRH First road race podium!

The third round for the CMRA season was back at MSRH and it was another wild ride! The team manager, Geno… my dog, also made the trip this time! I entered 5 races Saturday morning with the one I was looking forward to the most being the 40 mile race Saturday! Friday evening I was able to fit a new rear shock on the bike thanks to Roger from “On road off road” and with a little help Saturday morning we got it dialed in just right. The Friday night saw a storm roll through which in turn kept many racers away all weekend. The track though was decent enough and I was within 3 seconds of where I had left off the last time I was at this track. Things were going well up until the 6th turn of my first race. I made a poor judgment call which took me through the grass, that was very wet, made it through the first right once I got back on the track, didn’t think much of it when it was time to make a left and that’s the moment I went down and hard. Needless to say I didn’t finish that race and wasn’t able to make my next race but thanks to Enrique Hernandez we were able to get my bike back together so I could make it out for the big 40 mile race. The wind was blowing hard all race and I simply wasn’t able to compensate for it all race but had a great battle that went down to the last turn where I made a pass and ended up getting 2nd in my class! First road race podium in the books! My times weren’t at all great and the 30+ mph gusts on the ground nearly caused another DNF for me! That afternoon I decided to sign up for another race as I had missed one earlier. Sunday the weather was much nicer no wind and warmer too. Got my best start in the first race and set a new PB! My finishing position wasn’t all that great in that race and none of the others but my pace was better which is what I set out to do. A DNF, DNS, 2nd, 15th, 7th and a 10th was all I could muster. The competition in CMRA is very tight I will say that! And now into the 1:59’s I like to see that improvement and so does the team manager Geno! A huge shout out to the sponsors as always, Just1 Helmets, Woodcraft CMF, Hotbodies Racing, Galfer, Blud Lubricants and RK Chains.
