November 4th, 2020; the Groundwork for a Tyrant

Hello there again readers, and welcome back to Coffee Break Liberty, a blog where I tackle books, news, and many other things under the sun where liberty is a guiding principle. If this is your first time here I would like to extend a special warm welcome to you and hope you enjoy yourself while here.

We may be running into a crisis on November 4th, the day after election day. I’m not the first to say this but if there isn’t a clear winner, like by a significant margin, the US will most likely be in for a wild ride. For months already the two camps have been accusing the other side of cheating with no evidence to back any of it up. They have already made clear that whichever side loses they will call the others cheaters and try to bring into question the legitimacy of the election. Tyrants can rise to power this way and we need to be aware it.

For the last 4 years, the left has questioned the result of the 2016 election. Things like #notmypresident and the entire Russian collusion lie are two of the main ways they have been “questioning” the results of 2016. President Trump on the other had has said at many rallies that the only way the other side will win is if they cheat their way to victory. Once the election process becomes viewed as illegitimate by most people it becomes that much easier for a tyrant to rise to power. To be clear I’m not suggesting either Vice President Joe Biden or President Trump are these people that will cease power and not let it go. I do believe though that the game both camps are playing is laying the groundwork for a tyrant to try and grab power. And it’s the fault of the establishment.

Follow me down this rabbit hole if you will…

The United States is often compared to the Roman Empire. Many always try to compare the two and speculate of the US is headed down the same path towards a tyrant eventually. Most scholars will brush that off and say we are far off from that point. I on the other hand have begun to disagree recently with that notion, I fear we are closer than we think if we are not already there in a sense. One example that the scholars point to is that there has to be a figure so compelling that a large majority of the people will support them when they go to grab that power and that they will have to wrestle that power from the congress, much like Caesar had to form the senate in the Roman days. The issue here is that over the last 5 decades in the US more and more power has been given to the executive office via voting in congress. The cowards there have given up their power willingly! They didn’t even fight for it! They have created the position of tyrant all on their own. Heck King George laughed in John Adams’ face when he showed him the US constitution and said, “You have made yourselves a king and called him president.” He wasn’t wrong it just seems to have taken a long time for it to come around and now I feel we will see someone try to seize the power in our lifetime.

Back to next week though. If it is close we may not see Trump of Biden concede. If that happens we will be in for a wild ride, so fitting for 2020. A quick suggestion, stock up on toilet paper, food, water, and bullets because if Trump wins or even loses but doesn’t concede I predict riots in many cities. The trajectory we are on isn’t a good one, it is up to us to avoid the iceberg as Dan Carlin said recently. I’m of the opinion though that we are rearranging the deck furniture on the Titanic.

Ensure you are well provisioned.
